Sexuality is a topic seemingly figured out in many Christian communities. These communities hold to traditional understandings of sexuality and marriage, which stem from their interpretation of the Bible. These standards for sexuality are commonly understood to be harmless. This notion of the harmlessness of sexuality theology is a myth, however. The rigid structures framed around sexuality in Christianity cause a lot of harm to people, especially when it causes individuals to feel sexually repressed. Read the following article that I wrote that was published in my school’s newspaper, The Tartan, about sexual repression in Christian communities. Here, I discuss what sexual repression is and the serious problems people experience as a result of sexual repression.
