How I Will “Resist” Trump, Op-Ed

I recently wrote an op-ed for The Tartan, which is Gordon College’s Student Newspaper about resistance against Donald Trump.  Throughout the campaign season and for the month long duration of Trump’s presidency, protest against Trump has involved directly criticizing him and the mistakes that he has made in the past.  As important as it is to directly criticize those in power, I argue in this op-ed that an alternative form of resistance involves protesting oppressive social structures that are larger and more powerful than Trump’s oppressive policies.  Certain social movements such as Black Lives Matter, the Feminist Movement and justice for LGBTQ people, refugees, and Muslims are all ways of protesting these larger social structures that exploit and terrorize large swaths of the global population.  Check out the article:
