My name is Liam Adams and I originate from a small town in the state of Connecticut, USA. I recently graduated from Gordon College in Wenham, MA with a Bachelors of Arts in History and Sociology. I am currently an intern at The Chronicle of Higher Education where I pitch and write my own stories. My aspiration is to take my theoretical studies in history and sociology and apply that education to the field of journalism. This website, Pennyworth, is a portfolio to display my writing, photography and film production. I utilize these three skills of mine to express certain ideas that are important to me, whether that be about society, traveling or other personal experiences. I also acknowledge that I am always developing these skills and am looking for new avenues to challenge myself when it comes to writing, photography or film production.
Regardless of what medium is displayed at a given moment on this website, it must be known that my material is centered on a single idea: respect and mutuality for every human being and species on the earth. In current day U.S. society, the word “love” can be used in many ways. To avoid misinterpretation, the language of “respect” and “mutuality” better articulates the intention of my work. Through my work, I seek to respect the dignity of the human beings or the nature I am discussing. Furthermore, through my artistic efforts, I seek to establish mutuality with that individual or other species, which means that I emphasize that the value of that human being or other species is just as valuable or more valuable than I am. I understand my value is measured differently in the global society compared to other human beings or species due to my privilege as a white, straight, cis-gendered, American male. I understand that some of these privileges cannot be absolved, but I nonetheless attempt to care for each individual and the Earth as best as I can.
